Effects of the Digital Storybook

According to the NEA (National Education Association), children who were read to frequently are also more likely to:
  • Count to 20, or higher than those who were not
  • Write their own names
  • Read or pretend to read
  • Have better communication skills
  • Learn how to read a book
  • More logical thinking skills
  • Enhanced concentration and discipline skills
  • and the knowledge that reading is fun!
I show this to you because I want this to motivate parents, teachers, educators of the risk we are taking with kids not reading. Yes technology is advancing and so people must advance with it. That's why having the digital storybook is the best idea for kids to use and learn from! Because it is still up to date with the attractive technology design, much like an ipad, and it will teach the child how to increase their creative minds and how to become adventurous in given circumstances.

Along with the other bonuses this storybook provides for children, when children are tired of reading, then they can turn the speaker option on and have the narrator read the story or chapter to them. There's really no excuse not to have this for your children. Kids need to read to improve their intelligence skills and perform better in schools and classes and reading is the biggest key to that! Not only does it help improve their brain and thinking skills but also their problem solving and creative skills as well. We as adults must pay attention to the needs of the children so they can advance in classes and become smarter in life.

About Brett Baker

Hello! My name is Brett Baker and I'm writing Digital Storybooks for kids to help children who are bored of reading or don't find it very fun to experience a whole new adventure they can have buy just choosing different choice. I'm also writing this blog to share my ideas for kids to become more interacted in what they are learning. I am a student at Illinois State University and am also engaged to a beautiful women who is also attending the same school. We both volunteer at our church each Sunday in the children ministry, ages 3-4 pre-school, and we love working with the kids and teaching them. Every Sunday after the early church service, we would go back and meet up with our kids ranging from 10 to 25 kids each week, and we would greet the parents and kids at the same time and would play with the kids, teach them about Jesus, and read to them until their parents came back from their church service. I enjoy being with the kids and seeing them at this age solving problems and making decisions.

What made me think of this Digital Storybook was the thought of how this technological world is now turning kids minds and attention to televisions and other screens and tech stuff. So why not create something that will be up to date with the other technology but will also teach the kids to learn and become adventurous and creative with what they are trying to accomplish.

Digital Storybooks in the Classroom

For this blog that I am writing this evening I want to talk about how these digital storybooks will increase learning and interaction in the classroom. For one, kids will be able to read and know where they are in the story because while they are reading, the words will be high lighted for them. As I also mentioned, pictures will be able to be enlarged and shrunk as the kids see fit. If they can't see it, simply put your two fingers on the picture and maximize the picture. Same goes for minimizing it. This digital storybook is also kept up with modern day technologies as well. There would also be videos for different subjects that the kids wouldn't understand right away allowing them to visually understand what is going on and what they would be reading about.

Along with the Storytelling, as the kids are reading their story and they will come across a set of options they can pick. These options will then, depending on the choice the kids make, will lead to an alternative story. There wouldn't be just one set of options either. Along the way there would be another set and another depending on how many the kids would want. With kids having this privilege in the classroom, this allows them explore their adventurous side and see what different adventures they come across. This will peak their interests in the adventure storybook world and possibly motivate them to become more creative and expand their interests in stories.
